Grožnjan Travel Guide

A medieval hilltop town known for artists, galleries, music events and views across northern Istria.

Grožnjan is a small medieval hilltop town in northern Istria, between Buje Travel Guide and Motovun Travel Guide. After a period of depopulation, it developed into a centre for artists and musicians, and many of its old stone buildings now contain galleries, studios and craft shops.

The town is liveliest during the summer, when concerts, workshops and cultural events bring considerably more visitors. Grožnjan is suitable for art lovers, couples, photographers and cyclists using the nearby Parenzana route. It is small enough for a half-day visit but can also serve as a quiet base for exploring wineries and villages in northern Istria.
