Istriada is an independent travel guide dedicated to Croatian Istria — from well-known coastal towns such as Rovinj, Poreč and Pula to hilltop settlements, villages and quieter places in the peninsula’s interior.
The project grew naturally from our work on Diversorio, a guide to the Slovenian coast originally created for guests staying in our rooms in Izola. Many visitors do not limit their trip to one country: they explore Trieste, cross the border into Croatia and travel through Istria. Istriada was created to help them understand what is worth visiting and to make those journeys easier to plan.
What you will find here
Istriada brings together practical information about beaches, parking, accommodation, historic towns, attractions, museums, restaurants, cafés and local events.
Our aim is not to list every place in Istria. We want to explain what each destination is actually like, who it may suit and what visitors should know before going there.
Where useful, our guides include practical details such as access, parking, walking distances, facilities, possible disadvantages and alternatives nearby.
How we create our guides
Istriada is written and developed by Maxim and Olga.
We visit places ourselves whenever possible, take our own photographs and check practical details on location. We also consult official websites, local authorities, tourism organisations and information published by individual businesses.
Places change. Prices, opening hours, parking rules and available services can become outdated, sometimes without notice. We therefore indicate when information was reviewed and encourage visitors to confirm important details with the relevant operator before travelling.
Independent editorial approach
The opinions and recommendations published on Istriada reflect our own editorial judgement. A place does not receive favourable coverage simply because it is popular, expensive or commercially promoted.
Some pages may eventually contain affiliate links. If a visitor follows such a link and completes a booking or purchase, Istriada may receive a commission without increasing the visitor’s price. Affiliate relationships do not determine which destinations or establishments we choose to cover.
Photography and corrections
Unless otherwise credited, photographs published on Istriada were taken by us. Images are intended to show places as visitors are likely to experience them rather than to present an idealised advertising version.
